Shillong May 2: A meeting of the of MDCs of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in KHADC will be held on Friday evening, even as the Chief Executive Member (CEM), Teiñwell Dkhar has not accepted the resignation letters of three Executive Members and members who held the post of Chairman in different Advisory Committees of the Council.

Sources informed that the meeting proposed to be held on Thursday was postponed to Friday evening. The meeting has been scheduled at the conference hall, Hotel Pinewood.

Sources that the MDCs who are part of the UDA will meet together to thrash out issues that led to the resignation of the members from the Executive Committee led by the CEM.

On Wednesday evening, the CEM had convened a meeting at Hotel Pinewood but the members who wanted replacement of the CEM did not attend the meeting.

The UDA has 19 MDCs in the 29-member KHADC, and the opposition Congress has 10 members.

However six MDCs had withdrawn support from the UDA which include, three Executive Members, Victor Rani, Mitchel Wankhar and Macdalyn S. Mawlong, besides Lambor Malngiang, Gigur Myrthong, and Latiplang Kharkongor.

While Malngiang is the chairman of Advisory Committee on Finance and Administrative, Myrthong is the chairman of the Advisory Committee on Public Grievances and Kharkongor is the chairman of Advisory Committee on Forests.

Meanwhile the CEM has not accepted the resignation letters of the six members.

The six MDCs in a joint letter submitted to the CEM said that they decided to withdraw support from the UDA since grievances and suggestions have not been responded, and many issues have been decided without any collective responsibilities among the UDA members which affect “our people and bring down our image as elected representatives.”

The main reason that the members decided to withdraw support is the decision of the Executive Committee led by the CEM to allocate ont Rs 50 lakh to each member of the KHADC from the Rs 52 crore Special Assistance Grant given by the Centre.

Some members wanted that more fund should be allocated to the members to be able to do developmental activities in their respective constituencies while the opposition Congress demanded that each member should be given Rs 1.5 crore.
