Shillong Nov 22: The North-Eastern Hill University in collaboration with the IRIS Club organised a lecture on ‘Japan-India Relation in the Indo-Pacific’ which was attended by Post Graduate students, research scholars and faculty of the University.
The lecture was delivered by Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of Japan in India, Toshihide Ando, who dwelt at length on various types of collaboration that Japan and India are having in recent times for shared prosperity, security and destiny.
Ando also mentioned about nine ongoing and three new ODA projects being taken up by the Government of Japan for the development of the North Eastern Region.
Vice-Chancellor, NEHU Prof. S.K. Srivastava, in his address thanked the Embassy of Japan for its proposal to take 24 students of the University for a visit to Japan under the IRIS programme.
Earlier, welcoming the guests, Prof. Bhagirathi Panda, Dean, SEMIS outlined the importance of increased cooperation between the two countries for a secure, stable and sustainable world.
