Shillong, Nov. 13: Meghalaya Minister for Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Shri. H D R Lyngdoh on Monday inaugurated the Livestock Development Centre at Krang Veterinary Dispensary, East Khasi Hills District. The inaugural function was also attended by Dr. B Rijal, Director, AH & Veterinary Department, Shri B K Sohliya, OSD Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship, Dr. K K Kharmihpen, Jt. Director, AH & Veterinary Department and Shri. L Stepwar, President, Synjuk ki Rangbah Shnong, Krang village.
The function is being organized by the office of the District A H & Veterinary Officer, East Khasi Hills District in collaboration with Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneur (MIE).
In his inaugural speech, Shri Lyngdoh informed the gathering that the Livestock Development Centre (LDC) is the first of its kind in the State, adding that more LDCs are on the pipeline for the entire State of Meghalaya. He also lauded the effort of the District A H & Veterinary Officer, East Khasi Hills District and Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneur (MIE) for their untiring work and dedication towards the upliftment of the farmers. Shri Lyngdoh also informed that the Livestock Mission is an ambitious program of the state government which will not only address the demand and supply gap in meat production but will to a great extent reduce rural to urban migration. Stating that the government is concerned by the huge gap of demand and supply, Shri. Lyngdoh said the objective of the mission is also to ensure that the State become a surplus state in terms of meat production by having the right kind of investment.(MIPR)
