In a letter to Agriculture minister, LJP state farmer cell president, Denis Tynsiar said that during the visit to several villages in East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, Ri-Bhoi and Jaiñtia Hills and after interacting with several farmers, it was found that they have been facing hardship and it became impossible for them to repay loans they have taken.

Chief minister Mukul Sangma is looking after the agriculture department.
