Louis Braille Day celebrated by Amway with Bethany Society in Shillong

Shillong, Jan 25: Amway India celebrated the 209th birth anniversary of Louis Braille with 15 NGO partners by organizing a friendly football match between Amway direct sellers, employees and students of Bethany Society.

Louis Braille invented the Braille system to enable visually impaired people to read and write. World Braille Day is celebrated annually to commemorate the birthday of Louis Braille, and recognize his contributions in helping visually impaired people to remain part of mainstream society by reading and writing as a normal person.

In state capital Shillong, Cluster operations manager, Northeast, Amway India was present on the occasion and took part in the football match on behalf of Amway India along with the other employees and Amway direct sellers.

Chandra Chakraborty, Regional Manager, East, Amway India, said, “We have been working tirelessly towards the welfare of the visually impaired with a firm belief that education is the key to the future that create opportunities transcending physical limitations. We hope that our support will inspire the students of Bethany Society to excel in different aspects of life and showcase their talent in different forums.”

“We have been consistently celebrating Louis Braille Day with Amway India, year after year and our relationship has become stronger with a clear focus of enabling the visually challenged children to have a better future” Executive Director, Bethany Society, Carmo Noronha said.
