Magistrate asks license holders to deposit of arms in view of Model Code of Conduct

Shillong, Apr 2: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong in exercise of the powers vested by section 21 (I) read together with Section 17(3), (a) & (b) of the Arms Act 1959, has directed all license holders to deposit their arms and weapons without fail in the nearest Police Station, Outpost, Beat House during the on-going Model Code of Conduct enforced on account of the ensuing Lok Sabha Elections, 2019 in Shillong (ST) Parliamentary Constituency.

An order issued by the District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, Shillong said that non-compliance of the above mentioned order will result in imposition of penalties and punishable with imprisonment for a term which shall not be less than one year but which may extend to three years and shall also be liable to fine.
