Shillong Sept 16: Mawlai MDC, Teiborlang Pathaw on Monday led delegation of Mawlai:2019-Social Service Organization (M:19-SSO) and met General Administration Department (GAD) minister, Comingone Ymbon to request the State Government to name the newly inaugurated Shillong Mawlai bypass after former Mawlai MLA, late Founder Strong Cajee.
Pathaw along with members of the M:19-SSO submitted a letter to the GAD Minister detailing points related to the request.
The Shillong Mawlai Bypass was inaugurated by Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma along with Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong and other ministers on August 17.
Pathaw said that the aforesaid road has come out due to the innovative idea and spectacular convincing power of late F.S. Cajee, as an MLA/MDC of Mawlai Constituency whose motivation was not only to decongest traffic along the National Highway-40 between the stretch from Mawlai up to Lumdiengjri but also to open more opportunity to land owners along the new stretch of the Bypass.
“This particular project has personally been involved by late Cajee in convincing landowners who initially disagree to willingly part with their land free of cost in order to meet the desirable space,†Pathaw told the GAD Minister.
He said that the M:19-SSO felt that as an honour and gratitude to the late leader of Mawlai whose contributions and self sacrifice in his services to the Constituency in particular and as a tall legislator in general, it will be appropriate to name the said Bypass road after late Cajee which should be known as the “F.S. Cajee Mawlai Bypass†where the people’s leader name and fame be remembered not only in our generation but shall live and be honoured for all times to come.
Urging the Minister take up this matter for consideration and necessary action, the M:19-SSO said that the people of Mawlai shall welcome and praise this noble deed and remain ever grateful.
Pathaw said that the Minister has assured to look into the request and would ask the Deputy Commissioner to verify the matter before taking it up in the Remaning Committee of the state government.
