Shillong May 27: A little known, Embee Rosebud Secondary, Tura in Garo Hills beat all other well known schools in the state, bagging the first position in the Secondary School Leaving Certificate examinations, the results of which were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBoSE) on Monday.
The school from Tura town achieved this feat through Neelam Kumari who scored a total of 577 marks.
Darila Akor Kharmawphlang of St Mary’s Higher Secondary, Shillong came second with an aggregate of 565 marks.
The results of the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC – Arts) examinations were also declared on Monday, with St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong securing the first position through Daiana Kharbithai secured the first position with an aggregate of 452 marks.
St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School also bagged the second position through Kharbithai’ colleague, Prantik Bhattacharjee who scored a total of 446 marks.A
An overall pass percentage was poor just 55.72, as out of 50,050 candidates who appeared for the SSLC examination, only 27,887 of them passed.
In the HSSLC (Arts) examination, an overall pass percentage was 76.28 as out of 24,371 candidates who appeared for the examination, 18,589 of them passed.
