Shillong, May 8: St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong and BBS College, Shillong bagged the top positions in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations in the science and commerce streams respectively.
The results were declared by the Meghalaya Board of School Education (MBOSE) here on Wednesday.
Debjanee Bhattacharjee of St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong, bagged the first position in HSSLC (science) by securing 464 marks. BBS College’s Bhanudaya Upadhaya secured the first position in HSSLC (commerce) with 448 marks.
St Anthony’s almost snatched away all the top-10 positions. Interestingly, this year all the eight toppers of the school are female students.
In the commerce stream, St Anthony’s also produced six toppers by securing second, third, fifth, sixth, eight and tenth positions.
A jubilant St Anthony’s vice principal, Father Henry Warbah termed the repeated success of the school as a “tradition†and congratulated all the students for continuing to bring glory to the institution.
He said the school has a vision and it offers education which value and nurture religious, spiritual, moral, aesthetic, social and physical growth of the individual.
St Anthony’s has been bagging the first position in HSSLC (Science) continuously for the past six years.
“We would also like to express our gratitude to the teachers, parents and students as it is because of their seriousness, dedication and hardwork that we have achieved this milestone,†Fr Warbah said.
