Shillong, May 10: St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong swept the top 10 positions in the Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (Science) examinations, while St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong bagged the first position in HSSLC (commerce) examinations, the results of which were declared by the Meghalaya Board of Secondary Education (MBOSE) on Thursday.
Except the 6th position held by Nishtha Barman Hajong of Don Bosco College (Higher Secondary Section), Tura, all positions from first to ten went to St Anthony’s Higher Secondary School.
Rishav Das of St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong who secured a total of 480 out of 600 marks bagged the first position in HSSLC (Science), while Chongdeinem Guite of St. Edmund’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong who secured an aggregate of 443 marks bagged the first position in HSSLC (commerce).
Out of 3,663 candidates who appeared the HSSLC (science) examinations this year, 2,732 of them passed with a pass percentage of 74.58.
Similarly, out of 2,297 candidates who appeared the HSSLC (commerce) examinations, 1,834 of them passed with a pass percentage of 79.84.
In HSSLC (commerce) examinations, female candidates outshone male candidates. Out of 1,427 male candidates who appeared, 1,076 of them passed (75.40 per cent) and out of 870 female candidates who appeared, 758 of them passed (87.12 per cent).
In HSSLC (Science) examinations, male candidates outperformed female candidates. Out of 1,729 male candidates who appeared, 1,297 of them passed (75.01 per cent) and out of 1,934 female candidates who appeared, 1,435 of them passed (74.19 per cent).
