Shillong, June 6: The Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited – Joint Action Committee (MeECL-JAC) has announced its first phase of agitation as a mark of protest against the alleged adamant attitude of the management towards its demands.

In a letter to the MeECL chairman cum managing director, JAC general secretary Arju Dkhar said that the committee in a meeting held last month had resolved to commence its first phase of agitation by holding demonstration and wearing black flag during office hours in all district headquarters from June 11 to June 13.

The meeting also unanimously decided to convey its resentment on the non-responsive and lackadaisical attitude of the management of the MeECL.

The JAC has been demanding from the MeECL to notify electricity allowance with retrospective effect from January 1, 2015 without any delay and include the same with effect from May salary, payment of arrear, enhancement of death-cum-retirement-gratuity among others.
