Meghalaya CM meets Union Finance Minister in New Delhi

Shillong, Mar 22: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Thursday briefed Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley about the fiscal health of the state especially in terms of block crunch as well as the issue related to the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan.

Conrad met Jaitley at his office in New Delhi on Thursday and discussed a wide range of issues such as early sanction of funds to ensure smooth implementation of government policies and programmes.

The Union Finance Minister was concerned about the situation and assured all possible help to the state.

After giving a patient hearing to the Chief Minister, the Union Finance Minister personally spoke to Union Secretary Expenditure, Ajay Narayan Jha to expedite the matter at the earliest.

Later, the Chief Minister personally met Union Secretary Expenditure and briefed him also about the whole financial situation of Meghalaya.

The Chief Minister also met the Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Niprendra Mishra at the latter’s office and sought the Government of India’s support to meet the state’s government dream of ensuring socio-economic development.

Mishra has also assured the Chief Minister that he will look into the matter.
