Shillong, Aug 3: Senior Congress minister, Prestone Tynsong and his colleague, Sniawbhalang Dhar were removed from the Cabinet by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma paving the way for induction of new faces.
Tynsong told reporters on Thursday that the chief minister has communicated to him that he and Dhar would be out of the Cabinet in the “interest of the party.”
“This is the prerogative of the Chief Minister. I accepted it and have faith in our leaders,” Tynsong said.
In the place of Tynsong, who looked after PHE and other portfolios, and Dhar who held power, community & rural development, and other departments, two Parliamentary Secretaries, Comingone Ymbon and Celestine Lyngdoh would be inducted into the Cabinet
According to sources in the Raj Bhavan, here, the swearing in ceremony will held on Friday at 10.30 am.
Governor, Banwarilal Purohit who is also the Governor of Assam will administer the oath of office and secrecy.
Sangma met the Governor at the Raj Bhavan on Thursday afternoon and informed him about the minor reshuffle in the cabinet.
The removal of Tynsong and Dhar from the Cabinet came amid reports that both of them may leave Congress and join another political party ahead of fresh Assembly election to be held early next year.
The Cabinet reshuffle also came seven months prior to the fresh Assembly poll.
