Shillong, Dec 3: Meghalaya registered a thumping 348-run victory over Arunachal Pradesh on the third day of their U-19 men’s Cooch Behar Trophy 2025-26 (Plate Group) match at the MCA Ground here today, after bowling out the visitors for just 90 runs in their second innings.
To recount the match progress, Meghalaya had scored 205 runs in their first innings and then dismissed Arunachal for 136, before reaching 298/5 at stumps on Day 2 in their second innings. They added 71 more runs this morning to finish on 369 all out, setting a huge winning target of 439 runs.
Overnight batter Angkit Tamang, who resumed on 87, was run out for 97, becoming the second Meghalaya batter to fall in the 90s after Dipayan Nandi (94) on Monday. Heiyoomiki Ryngkhlem (32 not out off 26) and Mewankitbok Kharpuri (27 off 16) pleased the home crowd with an entertaining eighth-wicket stand of 50 runs, which included 11 fours.
For Arunachal, Ayush Singh picked up 3 wickets today to finish with figures of 4/46.
The visitors struggled from the outset in their chase, losing wickets at regular intervals and lasting just 31 overs, with only Deepak Kumar Yadav (31) offering notable resistance. The ninth-wicket stand lasted 37 deliveries, the second-longest partnership of the innings.
Apandanka Marak (3/21) and Gaurav Narleng (1/21) worked through the lower order before leg-spinner Mewankitbok Kharpuri wrapped up the innings with two wickets in the same over, finishing with 4/18 and remarkable match figures of 7/49. Angkit Tamang also chipped in with 2/18 with the ball.
With this dominant win, Meghalaya’s confidence will be high as they remain in Shillong to host Nagaland in their next fixture from 8 December.
