Meghalaya lad wins NE Body Can Sing Season-IV

Shillong Nov 23: Meghalaya’s own Reuben Mewanshuwa Hadem won the NE Body Can Singh, 2019 Season-IV competition organised by the All India Radio Shillong at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong on Saturday.

The competition was held on the occasion of Prasar Bharati Foundation Day.

Supriya Laimayum of Manipur took the second spot.

NE Body Can Sing is a musical reality show to explore young talents of the North East and provide a platform for budding artists from different parts of the region.

The grand finale of Season-IV of NE Body Can Sing saw the participation of seven contestants – Mudang Buggi (Arunachal Pradesh), Anannya Choudhury (Assam), Supriya Laimayum (Manipur), Reuben Mewanshuwa Hadem (Meghalaya), RK Lalduhkima (Mizoram), Sentisangla Oungth (Nagaland) and Joseph Sada (Sikkim).

Winner, Reuben Mewanshuwa Hadem was awarded in the form of artist contract worth Rs 1 lakh with certificates and mementos while the runner-up, Supriya Laimayum took home artist contract worth Rs 50,000 with certificates and mementos.

Other contestants were awarded artist contracts of Rs 6,700 and certificates.

ADG (E), North East Zone AIR and DDK, Shashi Kant, who graced the occasion as the chief guest, said that such competition provides a platform for budding and young artists of the region.

“The North East is a place where there is no shortage of talents in the field of music and arts, and such platform provided by the All India Radio will benefit everyone,” he said.
