Shillong, Oct 18: The Ranji Trophy 2025–26 Plate Group match between Meghalaya and Mizoram was called off without a ball being bowled on the fourth and final day at the MCA Ground, Polo.
Despite the tireless efforts of the groundstaff, persistent waterlogging in one section of the outfield rendered play impossible, as the surface remained too soft and unsafe for players.
Heavy rainfall in the days leading up to the fixture was believed to have caused the issue, leaving one portion of the ground unfit for use. Officials from the Meghalaya Cricket Association (MCA) confirmed that every effort will be made to address the problem before the state’s next home match.
Meghalaya are scheduled to take on Sikkim in their second Ranji Trophy encounter, beginning on October 25 at the same venue.
As per regulations, both Meghalaya and Mizoram were awarded one point each following the abandonment.
