Shillong, Apr 30: The Meghalaya government will permit movement of citizens from the State who are stranded in other North Eastern States with effect from May 5.
For citizens stranded in the other states outside the North-East India, the registration process will be announced as soon as confirmation is received from Government of India about resumption or arrangement of air/rail travel services.
Applications of 10,267 persons who have registered for the CM’s Special Grant for stranded people have been screened so far.
“Details of 7,891 verified applicants have been sent to the bank for disbursement and the banks are processing the same. The remaining application will be sent to the banks,” the statement said.
Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong informed that the State government was preparing the modalities for bringing back residents of the State who are stranded in different parts of the country due to the lockdown.
“The government would initially focus on bringing back those citizens who are stranded in neighbouring States,†he said.
