Shillong, Sept 3: The Meghalaya women’s football team left Shillong today for West Bengal to compete in the Senior Women’s National Football Championship 2025-26.
Drawn in Group D, Meghalaya will face Railways, Sikkim, and hosts West Bengal. Their opening match will be against West Bengal on September 6, followed by fixtures against Sikkim on September 8 and Railways on September 10.
The 20-member squad, announced by the Meghalaya Football Association, features a mix of seasoned players and emerging talent. Among the eye-catching inclusions is goalkeeper Ribansi Jamu, who was recently part of the India squad that secured qualification for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup. Although she did not feature in the playing XI, her experience with the national team is expected to boost Meghalaya’s campaign.
Other notable names include experienced forward Makrisha Songthiang, defender Nisilia Majaw, and promising youngsters Eiladki Ksoo and Inrilaidor Khongthaw.
