Shillong, Oct 27: The Meghalaya government is yet to finalize an action plan for implementing the recommendations of the Meghalaya State Education Commission (MSEC), which was constituted to reform and strengthen the state’s education system.
Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui told reporters on Monday that the process is still underway, with the department carefully studying the commission’s suggestions and identifying priority areas.
“It will take some time,” Rymbui said. “Recommendations that are easy to implement will be taken up first, while those requiring wider consultations with stakeholders will need more time.”
The minister did not provide a specific timeline for finalizing the action plan.
The MSEC was formed to assess the challenges in Meghalaya’s education sector and propose a roadmap for improving quality, accountability, and infrastructure across schools and colleges. However, nearly a year after its report was submitted, the state is still in the process of converting the recommendations into a concrete implementation strategy.
