Shillong, Jan 7: Miscreants hurled petrol pump at the BJP office here and the incident happened when states in the North Eastern Region are strongly opposing the Citizenship Amendment Bill, 2016.

Superintendent of Police (Shillong City), S. Rynjah on Monday said that it was informed that the incident occurred at around 11.20 pm on Sunday.

The petrol bomb was hurled outside the building of the BJP office. No one was injured in the incident.

Forensic experts visited the BJP headquarters to collect samples and took possession of the CCTV footage.

Police are investigating the incident to find out the attackers.

No one has been arrested so far, and police are yet to establish the reason behind the petrol bomb attack.

The BJP Meghalaya unit condemned the attack and BJP legislator and Health Minister, A.L Hek visited the party office and an FIR has been lodged with police.
