Missing nurse from Jaintia Hills yet to trace

Shillong,May 24: Lammidaka Rymbai (24), who was doing her nursing internship at the GNRC hospital, Guwahati, had gone missing since February 2, earlier this year.

Lammidaka was staying at one Debajani Borgohain’s house located at GNRC, Super Market near GNRC hospital, as a paying guest.

Separate FIRs have been filed with the Dispur Police Station on February 21 and Lumdiengjri Police Station on February 26.

However despite two months have lapsed, police are yet to get any clue about the whereabouts of the victim.

Speaking to reporters here, a helpless mother Jemina Rymbai said that the last time she had spoken to her daughter was at 6.30 pm of February 2, before she went missing and her mobile switch off.

Jemina, who hails from Ialong village in West Jaintia Hills District, informed that after she had lodged a missing complaint, the Assam police with the help of the state police had arrested one person, from whom her daughter’s phone was recovered on April 2.

“The accused was a friend of a taxi driver known to my daughter. The arrested person had confessed before the police that he had taken the mobile and money from my daughter’s purse but is not willing to tell where she is,” she said.

She also alleged that despite waiting anxiously, the investigation officer (IO) in Assam is yet to provide with any information about what really happen to my daughter.

“I really want the authorities to help us find our daughter,” she said, while informing that she had also approached women NGOs from the state to extend their help in finding her missing daughter.

According to the mother, Lammidaka had been staying in Guwahati for the past four years.
