Shillong, Mar 31: To inculcate a culture of preparedness among the community and first responders and facilitate the District Administration in reviewing adequacy and efficacy of the Disaster Management Plan of the District, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills conducted a mock exercise on earthquake scenario of magnitude 7.5 on richer scale at Marba Hub, Khyndai Lad here on Saturday.
The exercise was carried out as per the Incident Response System (IRS), a mechanism which response through a well conceived team which consist of the Incident Commander and the teams from the Operation, Planning and Logistic sections under the control and command of the Responsible Officer (RO) who is the Deputy Commissioner of the District.
The mock exercise was participated by the departments of Police, Health, Civil Defence and Home Guards, PWD, Fire and Emergency Services, Information and Public Relations, Power, EMRI 108, among others. The volunteers from the Indian Red Cross Society, Marba Hub, Glory Plaza and Hotel Centre Point also participated in the exercise.
