MoU signed at NEC for setting up of 7 bamboo processor units in North East

Shillong, July 30: Seven primary Bamboo Processor Units in the North Eastern states following the signing of memorandum of understanding (MoU) at the North Eastern Council (NEC) here on Monday.

The MoU was signed between Cane and Bamboo Technology Centre (CBTC), Assam and Indian Plywood Industries Research and Training Institute (IPIRTI), Bangalore at the NEC here.

Dr. R.K Mohanty, Director IPIRTI and Gautam Chintey, Adviser (BIT), NEC and Secretary in-charge CBTC signed the MoU in the presence of NEC secretary, Ram Muivah and Chairman CBTC and other officials from the NEC and CBTC.

The signing of MoU will facilitate the setting up of seven primary Bamboo Processor units in the North Eastern states. The project is funded by the Ministry of DoNER under its STINER scheme for promoting bamboo industries in the North Eastern Region.
