Mukul questions delays in appointing new body of MSCW, CIC

Shillong, Sep 13: Dr. Mukul Sangma has alleged that the failure of the government to appoint a new body of the Meghalaya State Commission for Women (MSCW) and a new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) show that the government doesn’t want these kind of institutions which are capable of empowering people and capable of identifying instances of irregularities and instances of alleged corruption.

“Because it is happening on the ground that is why they want to ensure that it is not there,” Dr. Sangma alleged.

The opposition leader also said that in the last three and half years the whole attempt of the government was to weaken the Lokayukta.

According to him, this institution was designed to deter the tendency of corruption at the high offices.

Dr. Sangma also alleged that in the police organisation there are frequent postings and transfers.

According to him, these transfers have impacted in ultimately creating an environment which can be capable of defiling the whole positive energy that was visible in the police organisation.

“These are only tip of the ice berg in as far as reflecting the intent and priority of the government of the day,” Dr. Sangma said.
