Shillong, June 8:Â Former Meghalaya Chief Minister, Mukul Sangma has hit out at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal over the decision to treat only Delhites in government and private hospitals during the Coronavirus pandemic.
“Hello Mr Kejriwal, Delhi is our national capital. COVID-19 outbreak is a†notified disaster; citizens stranded due to lockdown or infected with COVID-19 due to unrealistic & unscientific plan/strategy adopted by Govt are victims – refer Sec 35-39 DMA 2005. @ArvindKejriwalâ€, the veteran Congress legislator tweeted on Sunday
“The law cannot be used selectively by the government only to draw power for the authorities to restrict citizens’ normal activities but also comply with the provisions of the same law to act promptly to evacuate & provide relief to the victims of the disaster,†Sangma added.
“Sec 36 & Sec 39 – DMA (Disaster Management Act), 2005 refer to the responsibilities of Govt of India & State governments respectively in respect of evacuation; relief; rehabilitation & reconstruction of the affected victims of disaster,†the former Meghalaya CM further tweeted.
