Shillong, February 12: The Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Government of Meghalaya, on Wednesday hosted a briefing session for the National Level Monitoring (NLM) Team from the Government of India at the Office of the Director, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Department, Shillong.
The session was chaired by Dr. (Ms.) A. Chyne, Director of the Department, in the presence of Dr. M.D. Sharma (ISS), Deputy Director and Nodal Officer for Central Sector Schemes, along with senior departmental officials and representatives of implementing agencies.
The National Level Monitoring Team comprises Dr. Mihir Mondal (NLM, DAHD) and Dr. Mahesh Katara, who have been empanelled by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying (DAHD), Government of India. The team is on a five-day visit to the State from February 12 to 16 to review and assess the implementation and progress of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
The schemes under review include the Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), National Livestock Mission (NLM), Livestock Health & Disease Control Programme (LHDCP), National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), and other allied livestock development initiatives.
As part of their itinerary, the team will undertake field visits to East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, and West Garo Hills districts. During these visits, they are expected to inspect project sites, interact directly with beneficiaries, and evaluate the ground-level impact of the schemes.
The visit is aimed at strengthening monitoring mechanisms, ensuring transparency and accountability in implementation, and providing constructive feedback to enhance the effectiveness of livestock development programmes in Meghalaya.
