Shillong Jan 27: The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has announced another two candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections slated for February 27.
NCP state president Saleng A Sangma told reporters that Vikas Gupta is the candidate from South Shillong, the constituency represented by former NCP MLA, Sanbor Shullai.
Gupta was the BJP leader who switched to the NCP after Sanbor Shullai quit as MLA and joined the BJP. Gupta is also the ward commissioner of the Cantonment.
Starfing Pdahkasiej will also contest from Mawsynram constituency on NCP ticket against former MLA and present CEM of the KHADC, PN Syiem.
Addressing a party meeting, the new NCP state president and former legislator who is contesting from Gambegre termed Shullai aâ€coward†for leaving the NCP.
“He (Sanbor) is a coward. He has left the NCP and joined the BJP when he was supposed to run the state as an NCP state president. If he is not a coward, he wouldn’t have left the NCP,†Saleng said.
He also expressed confidence that the NCP will retain the South Shillong seat and said that there are already RTI findings against Shullai besides other issues.
