Shillong, Aug 3: A hardcore rebel of the anti-talk faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) was killed by security forces in Meghalaya’s East Garo Hills district on Friday.
Swift Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) commandos of the state police acted on intelligence inputs and raided a hideout of a mixed group of 10 NDFB cadres along with several Garo miscreants at Tarasin village.
When the commandos approached the village, they were fired upon by the militants, after which security forces retaliated.
Ringrang Momin, SP of East Garo Hills district said that one of the NDFB militants identified as Koma Boro was killed in the exchange of fire.
An AK rifle along with 1 magazine was recovered from the possession of the dead militant and an operation is on to nab the other militants, suspected to been wounded, fled from gunfight.
