Shillong Mar 5: NEEPCO has been given two more power projects in Meghalaya for execution
The two projects – 69MW Umjaut and 57 MW Umduna were earlier given to ETA Star Infrastructure Ltd, Mumbai to develop.
The decision to hand over the projects to NEEPCO was taken at the state cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday.
Power Minister, James K. Sangma said that the two projects – Umjaut and Umduna – have been also renamed as Wah Umïam Stage-I and Wah Umïam Stage-II respectively.
James said that a Memorandum of Association would be signed soon with NEEPCO.
Meanwhile the State Cabinet has also approved a loan guarantee of Rs 60 crore to be taken by the Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited for Myntdu-Leshka Hydro Electric Project.
The loan would be taken from the Rural Electrification Corporation.
