Shillong Oct 14: A candle light and peaceful march was held in the campus of the North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) on Monday evening.
The march was organized by the North Eastern Hill University Students Union (NEHUSU) to condemn the attack of two students by masked miscreants last week.
The two students were attacked inside the Kupli Boy’s Hostel in NEHU campus on the night of October 9. Though an FIR was lodged the next day, police have not been able to make any arrest so far.
The attack happened few hours after the Hynñiewtrep Youth Council (HYC) NEHU unit was formed and its office bearers were elected.
Hundreds of students took part in the march which started from NEHUSU office in the university and ended at the same venue.
NEHU Teachers Association (NEHUTA) also joined the peaceful march and expressed solidarity with the students.
Condemning the incident, students urged police to trace and nab those involved in the incident.
“Investigation is on into the incident, and we were told that police have been able to establish some leads,†NEHUSU president, Genuica Majaw said.
