Shillong, Oct 23: Football fans can look forward to an exciting contest as Nepal and IR Iran gear up to face each other on Friday in the Women’s Tri-Nation International Tournament at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Polo Ground, Shillong.
At the pre-match press conference, Nepal head coach Nabin Neupane said his side is well-prepared and determined to secure all three points. Neupane, who has previously visited Shillong, acknowledged that both India and Iran are formidable teams but expressed confidence in his players’ readiness to give their best over the full 90 minutes.
Meanwhile, IR Iran head coach Marziyeh Jafaribaravati praised Nepal, describing them as a strong and disciplined side. She added that her squad has worked hard to correct its earlier shortcomings and is focused on delivering a competitive performance on match day.
Soon after the press conference, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs D.D. Shira formally unveiled the tournament trophy at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The ceremony was attended by the coaches and captains of all three participating teams, along with officials from the Meghalaya Football Association (MFA).
The Women’s Tri-Nation Tournament, hosted in Shillong, features India, Nepal, and IR Iran, marking a major step in promoting international women’s football in the region.
