Dhar (Madhya Pradesh), Sep. 20: A new born of Dhar’s Dhamnod suffered loss of life after a Bengaluru hospital refused treatment of the girl under Madhya Pradesh government scheme, alleging that the government already owed it nearly 6 crore dues.

The deceased child’s family moved to Bengaluru’s Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences to get the girl treated as she had a hole in her heart. The family approached the hospital under Madhya Pradesh’s Mukhyamantri Bal Hriday Upchar Yojana (MBHUY).

The scheme provides costly treatment free for the poor children of the state.

Manoj Verma, father of the girl told ANI, “We got prescription for the treatment from Dhar collector under which they said that money will be transferred automatically under government’s scheme. We then reached Bangalore through flight and informed the hospital about the situation. The hospital asked us to deposit Rs 40,000 but we didn’t have money. We anyway arranged some and deposited Rs 10, 000.”

“The hospital refused to treat the child as they said that the Madhya Pradesh owed them Rs 6.03 crore, which the government had not paid. We waited for three -four days and requested Dhar health department to transfer money, but they only assured us of money and didn’t transfer any,” he said.

The family now demands justice from the government. (ANI)
