Shillong, Feb 28: Voice of the People Party (VPP) Member of District Council (MDC), Shemborlang Rynjah, took over as the new Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) and outlined his vision for the council.

Rynjah announced that the new Executive Committee has decided not to issue trading licenses in trades that indigenous people are capable of doing, to promote self-sufficiency among local youths.

Other key agenda items include reviewing Building By-Laws to simplify the process for poor families, formulating a recruitment policy to prevent “disguise unemployment,” and protecting the environment, forests, culture, traditions, and language of the Khasis.

Rynjah also emphasized the need to address border issues to ensure safety and security for people living in border areas.
