Newly elected KHADC members take oath, Pathaw, Syiem take oath in Khasi

Shillong Mar 6: Newly elected members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council took their oath and two of its members took their oath in Khasi.

The two members, who took their oath in Khasi include, Teiborlang Pathaw from Mawlai constituency, and Pynïaid Sing Syiem from Sohryngkham constituency.

The other 27 members, however took their oath in English.

East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Matsiewdor W Nongbri administered the oath of office to all the 29 elected members of the Council.

The Council is a mixture of new faces and old guards including former ministers and legislators.

Martle N. Mukhim, from Mawkynrew constituency, is the senior most and oldest member, while Bajop Pyngrope from Rambrai-Jyrngam constituency is the youngest member of the Council.

Two MLAs, Lambor Malngiang and Gigur Myrthong were also elected as members of the Council from Nongkrem and Mawshynrut constituency respectively.

Gigur Myrthong got elected from Mawshynrut on NPP ticket and Malngiang, who is also the chairman of the State Planning Board, was elected as Independent from Nongkrem constituency.
