Shillong, June 06: The District Magistrate, East Khasi Hill District has relaxed curfew in areas under Lumdiengjri Police Station, that is, Jaiaw, Mawkhar, Umsohsun, Riatsamthiah, Wahingdoh, Mission, Mawprem, Lumdiengjri, Lamavilla, Qualapatty, Wahthapbru, Sunny Hill, Cantonment, Mawlong Hat including Cantonment Beat House Areas (excluding localities beyond Umshyrpi bridge) for 7 hours on Thursday from 7 am to 2 pm.

However curfew will continue again from 2 pm until further orders.

On Wednesday curfew in the areas was relaxed for five hours from 7 am to 12 noon.

Only night curfew is being imposed in the whole of Shillong from 6 pm to 5 am.

Meanwhile normalcy has started to returned especially in the said curfew areas after stone pelters who were gathering at Mawkhar area have dispersed since Monday night.

People have also come to Motphran and ïewduh to buy goods during the day on Wednesday, though not many shops were opened.

Clearing of stones pelted by mob during the violent protest between Motphran and Mawkhar area has also started.

But garbage is still accumulating at Motphran and other places following the violent agitation in the past few days.
