Shillong Sept 2: The National People’s Party (NPP) would build a museum in honour of former Lok Sabha Speaker and former MP of Tura, late Purno Agitok Sangma besides erecting his statue at Tura town.
This was informed by NPP national president and Meghalaya chief minister, Conrad Kongkal Sangma while commemorating the foundation day of the NPP and the birth anniversary of late Purno at Tura on Monday.
“As a tribute to his contributions to the State and national politics, a statue (of P.A Sangma) will be erected at Tura. A biography on his life will be written and a book on his ideology will be published by 2021,” Conrad said.
A prayer service to observe the ‘Foundation Day’ of NPP and the ‘Birth Anniversary’ of late Purno was also organised at Conrad’s parents’ residence, Dakopgre, Tura.
“We will also build a museum in his honour,” Conrad said and thanked NPP workers, well wishers and friends for supporting the family and the party.
