Shillong, Oct. 19: One person died and another was critically injured when a Hyundai i10 heading towards Shillong hit a Maruti Alto at Ummulong on Thursday morning.

As per sources, the incident took place at around 11:00am when a Hyundai i10 vehicle bearing registration number ML05A-TC-0009 driven by Anup Kagad (47) dashed against a Maruti Alto (ML05F2059) heading towards Jowai.

According to the eye witness Hyundai i10 was above the normal speed , which led to the accident where the driver of an Alto (ML05-F-2059) succumbed to his injuries and a women who was a co-occupant  was critically injured .

The injured persons were immediately shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.
