Operation of public, private transport in Shillong Agglomeration prohibited

Shillong May 03: Operation of public and private transport in Shillong Urban Agglomeration is prohibited, except public transportation arranged by the state government.

On Sunday, District Magistrate, East Khasi Hills District, M. War Nongbri, said that the prohibitory order was issued under section 144 Cr.P.C read together with Regulation 3 of the Meghalaya Epidemic Diseases, COVID-19 Regulations, 2020 and Guidelines of the Ministry of Home prohibited in East Khasi Hills district with effecet from 4 of May  (Monday) to May 11 for timings from 6 AM to 7 PM each day.

Urban Agglomeration will move with two passengers and driver for four wheelers, one pavillion rider with driver for two wheelers and public bus to utilize only 50% of seating capacity.

Operation of permitted supply chains/wholesalers and retail outlets will be regulated as per scheduled timings and dates which will be released in advance from time to time.

The order also probibited inter-district and inter-state movement, any assembly whatsoever, operation of major markets (Ïew heh/ ïew dielang) and shopping complexes in all commercial locations, operation of all cinema halls, shopping malls/complexes, gymnasium, sports complexes, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars and auditorium, assembly halls and similar recreational places, hotels and hospitality services other than those used as quarantine facilities and housing of stranded persons and tourists, opening of restaurants, dairy stalls, tea and food stalls except home delivery.

Opening of saloons, beauty parlours, spa and other similar rejuvenating centres, and operation of all shops dealing in non-essential items including garments, apparels, drapes, footwear, gift items, bags, suit case, watches, perfumes, toys, sport gears and equipment, Luxury items, TV sets, refrigerator, washing machines and other kitchen appliances, utensils, crockery, house-keeping appliances, grooming gadgets, furniture, carwash, tailoring, laundry & dry cleaners, vehicle accessories, opening of tent house shops have been prohibited
