P.N. Syiem is candidate for KHADC’s Chairman

Shillong, Mar 4: Newly elected members of the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council belonging to the United Democratic Party (UDP), National People’s Party (NPP), Hill State People’s Democratic Party (HSPDP), People’s Democratic Front (PDF) and Independents have formed the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) which will lead the new Executive Committee in the Council.

While the Chief Executive Member (CEM) post will go to veteran member of the UDP, Teiñwell Dkhar, the Chairman post will go to former CEM of the Council, P.N. Syiem.

Syiem, the former MLA and MDC of Mawsynram constituency, was elected as MDC of the NPP from Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah constituency in the just concluded elections to the KHADC.

The UDA has a total strength of 19 members which include seven from the UDP, seven from the NPP, two members of the HSPDP, one member of the PDF, and two Independents.

The Congress which has 10 members will sit in the opposition.
