Shillong, Feb 18: The Meghalaya BJP expressed its unhappiness with the performance of the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance (MDA) government following the recent allegations of corruption and said that it is upto the people to judge.

Reacting to a query on Tuesday, BJP state president, Ernest Mawrie said that it is up to the people to judge the performance of the state government and no doubt, some rectifications are needed.

“We want the government to perform,” he said.

The BJP which has two MLAs, is part of the National People’s Party (NPP)-led MDA government. One f its MLAs, A L Hek is also the minister.

When asked on the alleged illegal transportation of coal, Mawrie said that the Lokayukta has taken up the case and the party is waiting for the report.

The Lokayukta had recently ordered for a CBI probe but the same was challenged by the state government before the Meghalaya High Court.

Refusing to make any further comment on the issue, the state president however said, “It is now in the court and the truth will prevail.”

Stating that the party is totally against corruption, the BJP leader informed that he would soon take up the issue with the Central leaders when he visits Delhi.
