Shillong Apr 29: Police personnel were attacked by a mob at Shella village when they went to stop a meeting of the village Dorbar held to elect a new secretary of the Dorbar.
Around 70 police personnel including women police went to the village to stop the meeting after a subordinate district council court had directed two persons not to hold the Dorbar to elect the secretary following a petition filed by one Johnstelin Youroy.
The court had directed two persons, Wantei Kupar Swett and Tobias Tiewdop, of Shella not to hold meetings in electing the secretary and other office bearers of the village Dorbar, the meeting was convened in violation of the court order.
East Khasi Hills District SP, Claudia Lyngdoh said that some policemen and women received injuries in the incident.
She said that the mob hurled plastic chairs as well as sprayed chilli powder at police personnel.
No one has been arrested so far.
