Shillong, Sept 2: The East Khasi Hills Police have clarified that the alleged syringe attack on a minor girl in Jaiaw last month did not occur, following a detailed investigation into the case.
On August 18, Lumdiengjri Police Station registered Case No. 108(08)2025 under Sections 123/125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after receiving a complaint that two unidentified bike-borne men, wearing helmets, had allegedly injected a minor girl on her right shoulder near the Bible Society of India, Jaiaw. The report triggered widespread public concern.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, Vivek Syiem, IPS, said that investigators thoroughly examined evidence and recorded statements before the court. The probe conclusively established that the incident did not take place as described in the FIR.
