Police hold meeting with headmen of Shillong localities

Shillong Dec 20: A meeting with headmen of various localities within
Shillong, was held at the Police Headquarters on Friday to enhance police-community relationship.

The meeting was attended by many Rangbah Shnongs (headmen) who actively participated in the discussion by
sharing their experiences they have garnered over the years and highlighted
the problems which the general public of their localities are facing from time to time.

Issues such as menace of drugs, traffic congestion, violation of no-
parking zones by public, emergency response system, littering and crime incidents were deliberated at length in the meeting.

Director General of Police R. Chandranathan, who had
initiated the convening of the meeting expressed his gratitude to the Rangbah
Shnongs for their continuous efforts in helping the police department.

He also stressed on developing ways and means to mitigate the problems being faced by the public, and with the active participation of the Dorbar Shnongs, these issues can be approached and tackled meticulously.

Additional Director General of Police (law and order), H. Nongpluh, who was
the moderator of the open discussion session welcomed the suggestions of the Rangbah Shnongs who had exhorted on the need of efficient services at the police station level and to convene such meetings in the days to come.

R. L. Blah, General Secretary of Synjuk Ki Rangbah Shnong, congratulated the law enforcing department for efficiently handling the law and order problems in the city and also emphasised on the necessity of active participation of
the Dorbar Shnongs in addressing the menace of drugs trafficking, smooth flow of traffic and others.
