Polls to district councils: Cong wants names of aspirants by October 15

Shillong Sept 21: The Congress will contest all the seats in the upcoming elections to the autonomous district councils, and asked its respective Block Congress Committees to submit the names of aspirants vying for party ticket by October 15.

“We discussed about the upcoming elections to the autonomous district councils in Khasi and Jaiñtia regions of the state and we decided to contest in all the seats,” MPCC president, Celestine Lyngdoh told reporters after the meeting at Congress Bhavan here.

MPCC working president, James Lyngdoh said that application forms were issued from September 4 to 15, and many applicants from different constituencies have collected the forms.

However in some constituencies, some MLAs of the party requested the party to give them some more time.

He informed that submission of application forms should be by October 15, through the respective Block Congress Committees.

Former Congress MLAs including Ronie V. Lyngdoh has also collected the application form to be the candidate for the upcoming elections to the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council from Mylliem constituency.
