Shillong, Sept 17:
A day after the swearing-in of eight new ministers, the Governor of Meghalaya, acting on the advice of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, has issued orders for the allocation and reallocation of portfolios, superseding all previous notifications. The new distribution of responsibilities, effective immediately, is as follows:
Conrad K. Sangma, Chief Minister: Cabinet Affairs, Finance, and all other portfolios not specifically allotted to other ministers.
Prestone Tynsong, Deputy Chief Minister: Home (Police), Public Works Department (Roads & Buildings), District Council Affairs, Parliamentary Affairs.
Sniawbhalang Dhar, Deputy Chief Minister: Urban Affairs, Transport, Commerce & Industries, Prisons & Correctional Services.
Marcuise N. Marak: Public Health Engineering, Housing, Soil & Water Conservation.
Metbah Lyngdoh: Power, Water Resources, Taxation, Textiles.
Timothy D. Shira: Tourism, Agriculture, Fisheries.
Brening A. Sangma: Border Area Development, Excise, Home (Civil Defence & Home Guards).
Lahkmen Rymbui: Education, Revenue & Disaster Management, Information & Public Relations, Law.
Sanbor Shullai: Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Arts & Culture, Printing & Stationery, Legal Metrology.
Sosthenes Sohtun: Community & Rural Development, Secretariat Administration, General Administration.
Wailadmiki Shylla: Health & Family Welfare, Sports & Youth Affairs, Home (Passport).
Methodius Dkhar: Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Labour Employment & Skill Development, Registration & Stamps, Cooperation.
This reshuffle comes after the recent expansion of the Council of Ministers and is aimed at streamlining governance through a clear distribution of responsibilities across key departments.
