Shillong, Dec 4: Meghalaya Minister in-charge power, general administration department and community and rural development department, Comingone Ymbon has tendered his resignation from the cabinet on Monday.
Confirming this, Ymbon said that he has submitted the resignation letter to the chief minister, Mukul Sangma.
Though he cited “personal grounds” as the reason for resigning from the cabinet, Ymbon said, “In just four months as a minister, I have understood the style of functioning of the chief minister. The chief minister interfered even in the power department that I was holding and I feel it is of no point to continue as minister.”
Stating that he has to concentrate on his constituency for the upcoming Assembly election, Ymbon also said that he has decided to leave the Congress soon.
“I leave the party and join the National People’s Party (NPP),” said Ymbon, who was elected twice as Congress MLA from Raliang constituency in West Jaintia Hills.
Ymbon took oath for the first time as minister on August 4 and his resignation came exactly four months of his induction into the cabinet.
