Power shortage likely for few months in East Jaintia Hills District

Khliehriat,June 1:The Bursting of three transformers in the campus of MeECL,Moowakhu, near khliehriat which caused a massive fire on wednesday morning at around 9.30 AM.
Transformer damaged include two numbers of 20 MVA,cost 1.2 crore each and one 30 MVA cost 30 lakhs and other technical goods cost around 80 lakhs where the total assessment is 3.5 crore.

Speaking to media to day,shri Tinku Marak,Assistant Executive Engineer,Khliehriat said that the cause of the incident is due to some technical failure in 123-KV Grid Sub Station,Moowakhu and this will greatly affect the whole of East Jaintia for few months.

According to Mr.M.Kharkrang,Director MeECL Shillong who was in the spot to day said that the bursting of transformer has affected both the Distribution Line abd the Transmission Line further said that the Department will try to restore the Distribution Line as fast as possible but it will belimited,whereas the Transmission line will take some time maybe few months to restore completely.

The District Heads incuding Shri. M.S.Lhuid,Deputy Commissioner EJHD,Shri C.P.Mawkon,Magistrate EJHD,Smt,D.V.Lyngdoh,magistrate came rushing to the spot, also the head official Shri R.Shangpliang,Chief Engineer MeECL Shillong was in the spot.
The arrival of fire service from EJHD and from WJHD controlled the fire and no injury is reported in this incident.
