Shillong, Aug 27: Prime Minister, Narendra Modi on Monday congratulated Meghalaya Chief Minister and National People’s Party (NPP) leader, Conrad Kongkal Sangma on his election as the member of the tenth Meghalaya Legislative Assembly from South Tura constituency.
The bye elections to South Tura and Ranikor constituencies were held on August 23, and votes polled in both the seats were counted on Monday.
While the chief minister won with a huge margin of 8,421 votes from South Tura, the NPP lost in Ranikor to its ally, the United Democratic Party.
“Congratulations for the win from South Tura, Chief Minister! Best wishes in your endeavours to take Meghalaya to new heights of growth,” Modi said in his tweet, as he congratulated the Meghalaya Chief Minister.
Thanking the Prime Minister, Conrad said, “I look forward to the continuous support of the Central government under your leadership to my beautiful state, Meghalaya.”
