Shillong, Sept 18: A government official who resigned from service and joined the BJP is likely to contest the upcoming Assembly election from Raliang constituency in Jaiñta Hills.
A statement issued by the State BJP spokesperson, Basu Chakraborty said that Lakhon Biam, an assistant executive engineer of the State PWD has resigned from service and joined the BJP along with thousands of his supporters at Raliang on September 16.
”Lakhon Biam was inspired with the corruption free character of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. He was also inspired by the clarion call from Modi - sab ke saath sab ke vikas. His joining will boost up the party’s activities in Jaintia Hills,” the statement said.
