SHILLONG, DEC 4: The Raj Bhavan in Shillong has been officially renamed Lok Bhavan, following a directive issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, and approved by the Governor of Meghalaya.
A notification from the Governor’s Secretariat on Thursday announced that the new name comes into effect immediately. All official references, records, and communications must now refer to the establishment as Lok Bhavan.
“Raj Bhavan, Shillong shall henceforth be referred to only as Lok Bhavan, Shillong,” Principal Secretary to the Governor, H.C. Chaudhary, stated in the notification.
The move is part of a nationwide naming reform initiative intended to reflect democratic values in public institutions.
